The finishing technique will allow for lighten or darkening the finish somewhat by removing more or less of the “distressing” which appear black. Quarter sawn white oak is characterized by a straighter grain pattern and medullary “flake” figure which is quite prevalent in this piece.
The oil and wax finish will age well and develop more patina with time. Additionally, a new coat of oil and/or wax can be added anytime to “freshen up” the table as it ages. This is a very livable finish meant to be used.
